Ask a question
With all respect to the helpers not even one of the above mentioned steps worked for me. In the end when I was really getting desperate I happened to stumble upon a techfix page which led me to this website:

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

On visiting this page choose the Drive Association Fix (Restores default settings for hard drives).

On clicking that you will be asked to download a zip file which you of course do so. Then extract and run the zip file or just open it .

On running it you should find that your 'Double Clicking drive' problem is fixed.

Thanks.

I hope this helps.

Hi
I was facing this issue with my office servers
what I found is below
We receive the access denied due the fact that there is a autorun.inf file located on the share drive, If we remove this file/rename it to another extension we will not get this "Access denied" message.
When we open this file we see that the *.inf file is tending to an *.exe . Generally these files are created when a system has infections (the virus creates an *.exe file and also a *.inf file) like the virus which spread from a USB drive
The antivirus removes the *.exe but it does not recognize the *.inf. Hence when we try to map the drive we get this error message.

I just renamed /deleted the autorun.inf file
Remapped the drive and issue resolved
This is the simplest solutiion
Try this :)
