Hello,
Ok, the laptop, HP DV 2000t is old and decrepit, and I am running a new machine. However there are some photos and stuff on there that I would like to keep before I repair my screen. Is there any way that I can access my internal harddrive on the old machine, running XP with a machine running windows 7? or is it better to simply go out and buy a HDD-usb 2.5" and just remove that hd and run it through the hdd-usb? B/c I have tried hooking up a VGA to an external monitor, doing the fn+f keys and nothing from it. I am going to try that soon again with a wall mounted projector to see if there is any difference.

Any suggestions?

Hi there,

Since you already tried hooking and external monitor resulting to no response, you can use an external hard drive 2.5 '' casing, fit the hard drive in it and connect via usb,it easier to transfer your data and view everything saved on it.

Thanks

Yep, that is my other option I mentioned, the 2.5" HDD-Usb.
