Can only put 1/2 gig on 2 gig card

Hello, I have a 2g sd card that I use for my mp3 player and it only allows me to put 1/2 a gig worth of songs on it and than it gives me an error.

Does anyone know why I can't use the full sd card?

Could my card store all my deleted files on it, which would be using all the space?

open the card in the disk management local snap in, this may shpow tou why it is only showing half a gig, you may need to format and re-partition it.
