Reset to toshiba factory settings

Hi Justin,
I'm running windows vista on toshiba a205-s5000. For about the last 5 months I haven't been able to use my WMP, which is built in. I tried to install update/upgrade and it says the application does not apply to this system. Whenever WMP is accessed, it freezes up my entire computer, to where I have to manually shut down. Am I going to have to reset my computer to factory settings? I tried setting a restore point and cannot. It sets for "today". Please help me!
