Hello,
I on my laptop, and after the normal booting what it was displayed on the screen was that the 'WINDOW SOCKET INITIALIZATION FAILED' and some of the programmes stopped working. like antivirus, google sidebar and so onplease help me out.

You can try to restore your computer to a date and time before the error started. This looks like a virus problem. another think to try is to refresh "winsock"
From the broken computer click Start--->Run. In the run box type, verbatim:
netsh winsock reset catalog
