Hello,
Hi! I have an Dell Inspiron 6400. I accidently got virus on it and can't use it. Last summmer someone installed Windows XP Pro on it (I hade XP Home before.. or soemthing like that). Can I borrow a friend's CD to reinstall windows againg? i do not need the stuff in my computer so I do not care if it will dissappear.... If I can, hes CD is not Windows XP pro, it's something newer.... Can I still use his CD to get my computer to work again? Will internetconnection work if I do?

No you don't have a valid key for the other Windows. It will quit after a few days of use with out validating your install with Microsoft. You need an OEM copy of the original Windows product.

Good Luck

It Might be cheaper to have a repair shop do the re-install of Windows XP. I would skip Vista and buy Windows 7 but neither Vista or Win 7 will run good on a 5 year old computer. They need a faster CPU, more memory and a better video card than you have in your computer.

Good Luck
