Excel formula help

Hello,
I want to add a column of numbers (only cells that contain data, there will be some that will be blank and then I want to get the percentage of that number. For instance, I have 12 people that need training and I want to record when they have completed their training - but I want to be able to tell at a glance what percentage of those 12 people have complied with the training. Hope this make sense
