Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad

Hello,
I have a small issue with my touchpad. Sometimes when I turn on the computer, and the desktop loads after I put in my password, the touchpad doesnt work. I notice it will not work when it doesn't move on the password screen too.
But sometimes if I put the laptop to sleep and awake it, the touchpad will work or I will have to restart the laptop.

Why does it do that? Is there anyway to fix the problem?
