Screen saver won't pop up

Hello,
For some reason, the screen saver on my laptop never pops up. I have it set to come up after 10 minutes, but nothing ever happens. In the power settings, the display is set to turn off after 45 minutes, and that does actually work. So it's not some program tricking my computer into thinking it's not idle...just for whatever reason it doesn't like to show a screen saver. If I go to the display settings, I can preview the screen saver just fine, everything looks just fine, it's just after the 10 minutes that nothing happens. I've looked and looked through the power settings to see if I can find anything but all the settings seem to be fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
