My bios donot show the options of changing fr

Hello,
iam tring to install Xpsp3, i have problem installing it says no hardisk found or may not be powerd properly. i then looked in to ur solutions but when iam trying to find the options of changing from satato ide in bios i donot find any such option.my bios version is 1.3, and i use hp pavilion . please helpthe best you can because iam tring to finish my assignments.
