Slow download and upload rates

Hello,
I am running windows 7 ultimate on a 6 month old pc and before installed windows 7 my transfer rates where okay, good rate! now that i am running W7 i have a download/upload rate that is stupid! this is the same on my other machine which is running windows XP! so i think this issue is with my router but my windows 7 by far has the worst rates!

i have a Netgear N1 vision router
i am running a Netgear WG111v2 (on both machines)

please help! :)
