my sound on my computer does not work!!! Closed

Hello,
 I have been having problem with the sound on my computer but i don't really know what the proplem is. People have told me that it could be the sound card because when i try to turn the sound up on my comperture it will not let me so what do u think it could be and where can i go to get it fix?

check if the wires are connected properly
volume on your speaker and in your computer turned up?
lastly go to control panel > system. From there choose the ‘hardware’ tab in the window and click on the ‘Device Manager’ button. Check if your sound stuff are installed there or if anything is wrong.. if it is than you might need to reinstall your sound card driver stuff.. 
Configuration: Windows XP
maybe its the files of sound card drivers has corrupted
