Hello,
I Want to connect my Laptop to my pc with wired lan. I have a dell Laptop with OS Windows 7 and a PC with OS Windows XP sp2. I use a dial-up connection of BSNL. I have installed a D-Link's Ethernet PCI adapter on my Pc. I tried to Make the connection with a normal Telephone wire, But it didn't worked. I was not able to configure lan on both systems. I want to connect Both the systems so that I can access files as well as Internet on both sys. I would like to know 2 things:
1> Can the normal Telephone cable be used for Lan connection.
2> How to configure Lan on both sys.

Plz help me out.

Thank You
Regards,
Akshay

NO you can't use phone cable - phone cable is RJ-11 - Ethernet (LAN) cable is RJ-45 they have a different plug with different number of wires. You need to buy a router and RJ-45 cables (also called CAT-5 cables).
