XP will not start in anymode(keeps restarting

Hello,
I am trying to boot my laptop. When it starts to load in any mode it gets to a point and restarts. When trying to reload/repair windows as soon as it trys to access the hard drive it gives me the Blue Screen of Death. I have a feeling that the hard drive is the issue but i want to make sure before running out to buy a new one and finding out that it was not the issue that was causing the problem
