I typed like this - 18/05/1985, Now I need to change like 18-May-1985. I changed Date format but it is not change and this kind of format. give me a idea,

two possible reasons.
1. The date is a text and not a date. This could be coz the cell was formatted to be text before date was entered or there is a ' before date
2. your system is set to recognize mm/dd/yyyy and your data is in dd/mm/yyyy format
