Hello, my Inspiron 1525 hard disk died and I purchased a new one with larger capacities...however, when downloading WXP Home version (original os for notebook was Vista) I got the message "no HDD installed." How do I correct this?

Thank you for your help!

Windows XP is so old that it doesn't have advanced SATA controller drivers that are needed for your laptop. That's why it says it can't find a hard drive. My advice is to install Vista or Windows 7.

Hello XPCMAN, thank you for your input. I will be checking for best prices around for Windows 7. Hopefully, I will not need this type of assistance after that purchase. However, it is nice to know that there are people out there to help us!

Again, thank you for your help.
