Black screen on dell 1525

as soon as i turn my laptop on the screen flickers for about half a second and then goes completely black. not a clue what the problem is, was working fine yesterday

I suspect you have a problem with either the "backlight" or the "inverter". The backlijght lights up the4 screen and the inverter powers the backlight. Neither of these hardware items are user fixable. I suggest you find a good repair shop in your area.
