Computer suddenly didn't recognize printer

I've installed a receipt printer to my computer running on Windows XP, for a week everything work perfectly, then suddenly the printer is not recognize anymore.

Delete all the driver and software and try to installed in again, still no use, the printer use LPT1 port so try to change it to USB using converter and the computer recognize the printer again but my POS system have cash drawer so cannot use USB port to print.

Try changing the cable, figure out that is using the converter it work it must be the cable, however the problem still exist. The LPT1 port just won't recognize the printer attached to it.

Check the hardware manager, LPT1 port is said working perfectly.

Help! what else can I do to make computer to read the printer again.
