Can i transfer mp3 files from comp. to ipod?

I have cds downloaded into my computer and i want to buy the new ipod touch 8gb. Will i be able to transfer the music files from my computer onto this device or can i only buy songs through i tunes? My old mp3 player hooks up to the computer and i can download mp3 files no problem. Can i do the same thing with the ipod? Thanks for any help and suggestions :)

Yes, you will be able to transfer your mp3 songs.
you will need the Itunes software installed. This will link to your new ipod and you will then be able to transfer as normal.
