Cannot browse webpages

all of a sudden I cannot open any webpages in either Firefox or IE. It is connected to the internet but nothing will open. I think I may have a virus or malware but my virus scanner reports all ok.
I have read that I can remove a virus bu using the command prompt and there is a lot of information on your site but no actual solutions.

I do not know too much about the command prompt in XP so I would like specific instructions how to do this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the best choice to do is format ur unit..or system restore...or download tune up utilities and fix the problem

We would need some more information to pinpoint this problem.

What virus scanning software are you using? (you may want to check and be sure your antivirus software is not blocking you firefox or IE from connecting to the internet)

What is your operating system?
