My flash drive is recognized but not sho data

Hi I have a problem with my Transcent flash drive, when I plug it into my computer my computer recognizes it, but it does not show any of my files that I put on it before now and never has. When I click on properties it does show that I have memory space taken up on the flash drive but I cannot access any of my data. Is there anyway to successfully get the information back without having to reformat the drive?
