Can't download with Firefox or IE

The download window opens in Firefox and IE and the file to be downloaded appears, but it finishes immediately and is the size of a few kB. When I try to open it nothing happens. The files are much bigger than what I get when I download.

Pls! Help anyone?

Please consider checking whether your downloading speed is not restricting downloads.
