Hi there
The HP printer software is picky
You need to make sure that the printer is not plugged in untill the software tells you to plug it in
so, if you have the printer plugged in
Unplug it, restart the OS and check in Programs and features that you dont have any remaining software valid for the printer installed if so Uninstall it and reboot again.
Now try to reinstallt he printer cd and plug the printer in when the install asks for it,
If you have not plugged the printer in and you are still getting the error it is possible that the installer is not getting all the rights it needs to install all files for this you will need to browse the cd navigate to the setup file and right click and run as administrator
