When plugging IDE Cable into HDD it dsn't wor

Hello,

When I plug my IDE cable into my HDD or DVD Rom it doesn't start but when I remove the cable it works perfectly. What can be wrong?

Hi there,

The cable being used may be defective making short circuits ill advise to change it and revert back if no improvements made.

I have tried another cable and still the same. As soon as I plug the cable into the motherboard and HDD or DVD rom the components doesn't start up, but when I remove it, it start up. I have tried another motherboard and on that one it works fine.
