you can use the crossover to connect two pcs.
after connecting it assign
In PC1==> ip address as 192.168.1.11 subnet mask 255.255.255.0(subnet will be automatically assigned)
In PC2==> ip address as 192.168.1.12 subnet mask 255.255.255.0(subnet will be automatically assigned)
then restart both PC's
Note: Disable firewall and workgroup must be same for both PC's
