Hdd not detected

Hello,
i installed xp on a hdd and then put it in my laptop , i can see my hdd in bios but dont have an option to change to ide. i tried installing and repairing xp but it wont detect my hdd
if i put my hdd in my pc it is detected and boots to xp straight away so its not the hdd
any ideas would be helpfull thanks

Go to BIOS Setup
and detect HDD manually not in AUTO mode .
This will solve your problem.
