The answer is yes. Though there's no guarantee, you can often successfully get back formatted photos from SD card. Better not take more pictures once you find your old photos lost. As you may know this is to avoid overwritten cases. However the overwritten process is not noticeable, you may rely on some picture recovery programs to have a try.

I think the first thing you must do is stop took any new pictures on this sd card, otherwise you cannot find it back!
All the data are stored in the disk / mermory card systematically and orderly. When we commit Delete/format operation, it seems that they disappear forever. However, the fact is they are still there in the disk. They are not lost, just not visible or readable because the entry index of the system makes a special mark on those data hinting this area can be written over by other new data.
Just try to recover them with data recovery tool here: https://ccm.net/forum/affich-28692-how-to-retrieve-lost-files-in-flash-drives
but I think you cannot recover all of them because you have rewirte part of your SD card now.

i have a similar problem i accidently formatted my sd card 2gb.now it will not read on my camera,phone or computer.i also went out and bought sdhc adapter and reader and nope no luck there either.i really need these pics back can anyone help plz

oh yes i have also tryed photo recovery and no it does not work because my card can not be picked up.
