DVD ROM RW can read and write CDs but not DVD

My LG DVD ROM RW cant recognise any type DVD.But it can read and write all types of CD format.Is it a motherboad problem.Please help me,I'm in great trouble.

Unscrew your dvd writer and clean the lens.
