remove your Laptop hdd and fit it into an external hdd case. (a couple of quid off ebay. you can then 'slave this hdd to your usb port on your desktop computer. then you just transfer any files from the laptop drive to your pc.
or, if you have a network set up at home, or where ever the desktop pc is, then you can do it another way. you will need to connect to the network, either via wireless or patch lead.
after you have connected your other monitor go to
right click on my computer / properties
select remote tab
remote desktop
tick allow users to connect remotely to this computer
select remote users
add a user that will be connecting to the laptop from the desktop.
this done, go to the desktop
start/programs/accesories/remote desktop connection
input the ip address of the laptop.
it will ask for logon details.
if details correct, you will be able to connect.
from there you will be able to copy your files to your desktop computer.
