Hi!

Here is the thing: I'd like to know if I can go up in RPM speed and also what type I should go with 80 GB EIDE hard drive, ATA 100 5400 RPM DVD Writer Dual Format (+/-R +/-RW) with Double Layer support.

So, i think you question is about which one you should buy, 80GB ATA 100 5400rpm or DVD Writer Dual Format with Double Layer. Right?
My suggestion would actualybe to get both 80GB SATA HDD and 8X DVD SuperMulti Drive with Double layer (8.5GB) Support. You can choose a 7200rpm or higher instead of 5400rpm.

yea both would better suit together.. More space and more reliable for with new applications
