Hello,  Dear friends,
i have purchased AMD athlon 64 bit processor and asus m2n  mxse 64 BIT mother board three years back, but till date it has not worked with out any trouble.  Hardly it might have worked for 6 months. can any body suggest me what is the correct OS for 64 bit computer. my computer is 1gb RAM AND 120GB HDD. please help me to get out the problems. every time the computer service person says to format the hard disk and load OS again., but i think it is not the correct way of repairing a computer. so please help me.



Configuration: Windows XP / Safari 533.4

In using vista or 7 then install the 64 bit version on it for better performance ,.

Hi sivaji,  

 1) Having a 64 bit OS doesn't automatically make all applications faster. 

    Because most of the  software is written and optimised for a 32 bit . You will

    need software specifically optimised for 64 bit processing to take advantage 

    of any speed improvements.  

2) Moreover check whether motherboard drivers are available for 64 bit OS.  

3) Running 32 bit softwares in 64 bit mode , could  cause a slight degradation in   

  performance.
