Hp laptop turn dark/dim

What is the causes of this problem?my screen just turn dark/dim for no reason. i just plug the charger cord to charge it and all of a sudden it turn dim? how can i fix it????help any one???

Please explain clearly whether the screen gets black or it turns dim for appropriate help.
