My screen goes black after the windows loads.

Hi, I came home from vacation today turned on my computer started doing somethings and it froze so I tried to restart it and after it loads the windows xp start up screen it goes black before it got to the login screen, but I can still see and move my mouse. I have looked at a lot of forums and none of the things I have tried worked please help me!

I can start my computer up in safe mode as much as I want but when I try to load from last working settings it doesn't work either.

I have a Nvidia geforce 9600 GT and I have read that it could be the video card driver but right now I'm doing a virus scan to see if that would help.

Hi,

Go to safe mode, open device manager and uninstall the Nvidia geforce drivers

and check whether the problem exists or not. Then later download the

compatible drivers and install it.

The problem still exists after uninstalling them...

Hi,

try this 1

1)When you switch ON your computer, keep pressing "F8" key to get "Windows Advanced Options"( if boot menu appears click on "Esc" key and keep pressing F8 key)
2) Select the option "Enable VGA Mode" and press enter

I can't find where to do that but I did change it to onboard video card but that still didn't help.

If you are using graphics card then disable the onboard VGA in bios or else remove the

graphic card, use the onboard VGA and check whether the problem still exists or not.

I'm trying the VGA mode now.
