Hard drive 4

Hello, ok i have a computer with a 100g hard drive it works fine but the computer its in is ten years old i was givin a computer by my school and i took out the hard drive it came with and put in mine and it will not boot up, but it works in my old computer. i have checked the jumper setting and no boot.the hard drive that came with school computer has linux on it when i boot up linux i can see my hard drive in the folders, but for some reason the computer won.t boot to it.
