Monitor going to sleep

Hello,

Could anyone help please?
I was playing the Need For Speed (Undercover) game on my computer HP Pavilion in Windos XP. Suddenly it got hanged. I tried to end the task 4 to 5 times but the task windows wouldn't turn up. Then, I removed the game CD. Turned the power supply off. Put it on again. Then came the message on the monitor "NO VGA INPUT" "MONITOR GOING TO SLEEP". But the CPU was on. I checked all the connections and they all fine. What should I do now?

Please confirm whether the problem is not sourcing from your graphic card.
