Simple data formatting problem

Hello,

I know I am not a great at excel, ... I know enough to get by, but I wish I knew more.

I'm struggling with one thing recently. Using the good old ways, I named a range of cells "Database" for easier manipulation etc. However, every time I try to "Sort" the data in order to do something with it, and present to my boss, I need reformat all of it.

I use simple formatting for easier following of the data => dotted vertical lines and highlighting every other row. ... as you can imagine the highlighting gets messed up every time.

Any way I can do it automatically?
I tried the conditional formatting, but it forced its own ideas on me, which made it worse.
