Studio 15: unable to use dual monitors

When I connect an external monitor before I start the system, the laptop display will turn off. only the external monitor can be used. When I connect an external monitor after I start this system, the external monitor will not be detected and the laptop display can be used only. Only one monitor (system's self or external) can be used in this system.
Is any one know how to fix this problem?

Intel graphics chip or ATI Mobility Radeon chip?
I would go to the Control Panel and look for the Intel or ATI Icon. If dual monitors is supported you should find the options there.
