Where does the deleted data on Hard Disk go?

Hello,

I am a noraml guy who just knows how to use a PC for specific purposes, but I am unaware about the internals of how a PC works.

So, please let me know, what actually happens to the data that we delete from Hard Disk. After removing from recycle bin, does it just vanishes from Hard Disk? As I know that data on any memory carrying device is by storing them as signal impulses.

So what does actually happen?

Hi there,

Not totally removed ,its still on the hard drive even after deleting,for which after days or months or even years you can still get them by making use of recovery tools to get the deleted items back.

As an addition, that is why criminals, who think having erased all compromising data, can still get nailed.
