Reinstalled and my documents lost

Hello,

According to a technician a surge crashed my HD and had to reinstall windows, I have backups and recover almost everything except these two only files which after using recoverymyfiles software I still cannot find. This software has found lots and lots of things, but not these two files. These were in my documents folder. After windows XP reinstallation, the folder is empty.
I have read here and there that the old folder (different user etc) is still there in the HD.
Can anybody help me with this?
