Error msg: network cable unplugged

Hello,

Hey! i was away for 3 months, and so no one used my laptop. Now that im back, wenever i try browsing, the laptop does not even detect the broadband cable! I wonder if the port got destroyed or sth, cuz the cable works fine on my pc. pls help :(
