Hello,
I tried to install windows 7 onto my laptop, which is a dell inspiron, and now the screen is blank when I try to turn it on. It starts to turn up and load as normal, but when it gets to what should be the login screen, its blank apart from the mouse icon.

Please help!

Hello,

Try this 1.

1) Insert Windows 7 installation DVD and boot from DVD drive.

2) "Press any key to boot from the CD" appears, just press any key.

3) Windows 7 will load the set up files. Then follow the instructions by selecting

language and country and then click next.

4) Next you can find the option "Repair your computer", Just click on this.

5) "System Recovery Options" window will be opened ---->then select the

partition where your Windows 7 is installed and then click Next.

6) Now click on "Startup Repair" and follow the intructions. This tool should be

able to solve any issues causing Windows startup.

Good Luck.

Hello,
When you switch ON your laptop keep tapping the F2 key then it will take you to BIOS.
OR
Make sure you have placed the windows 7 dvd, during restart keep tapping the F8 key --> Boot
Menu will appear --> Now select the CD\DVD drive as first boot device.
Good Luck.
ive tried to do both options- the first one just comes up with a blue screen.
and the second one has no option for me to select the dvd drive as first boot device

x
ive managed to get to the option with the dvd, but it still hasn't changed. I saved it and then exited it, and it still starts to load but then dosn't show the screen where i should be able to log in.

Hello,
First place the Windows 7 dvd in your drive ---> restart and then set the first boot device as DVD drive --> then follow the instructions in the above from the step1.
Good Luck.
it said that there was nothing wrong, so i'm going to give it to my friend tomorrow to have a look at, so fingers crossed.
But thank you so much for all your help :)
