Problem with my acer zg5

Hello,
Bought my wife this Acer Aspire one zg5 noyebook which originally worked fine yet now seem to have developed a problem
Cannot access the web or find the control panel
When booted up it shows the fours screen options (connect/work/fun/files)
Tried looking in Preferences (settings?) without success
There is no wireless icon showing in the bar at the botton of the sceen so cannot connect to web and have no idea how to access the control panel as I cannot see any icons/links
Advice appreciated

which operating system are you using? have u tried a recovery or a system restore (if you're using windows)?
