Wireless internet disappearing

Hello,
I was trying to connect to the internet today to discover that wireless internet suddenly no longer exists on my laptop. I called HP and they tried to charge me 50 dollars to find out what happened to it..... My computer only recognizes if i were to plug and ethernet cable into an outlet. The wireless icon is totally gone. Can anyone help me?!?!?! PLEASE!!!

the same thing is happening to my laptop, maybe its a hp thing.

im trying to search the prob on the net and sort it out myself, they charge too much.
