Count appearances of specific words in Excel

Hello, I have a spread sheet with names of countries in the first column and over 1300 lines of text in the second column. I want to count number of times each country name (from column A) appears in the text (in column B). The countif function did not work and is returning all zeroes.

Please can anyone help.

You can use Pivot Table to count country name.
