Wireless shows connected on laptop but didn't

hello ,
i have got NOKIA SIEMENS RESIDENTIAL ROUTER 1600 . i configured my modem and it works well through cable on my pc but when i used to connect my laptop with it through wi-fi . with good signal strength it shows connected but didn't open any page . i tried all the possible ways by surfing the net but none of them work. Am using it on windows 7
please help !

is the work with windows 7? some might say only windows xp and stuff
if you have the box look for the sticker that say compatible with windows 7 or such
