Funny thing,
This has happened to me too. What I did first was, reboot windows, then plug them in, mostly it will say found speakers, or if it dident go to control panel> Hardware&sound>Speakers>Manage audio devices see if there there, in most cases you will just have to click them, in others you should make sure your audio driver is up to date.
