Hello,

I am currently using a 160 GB ( SATA ) hard disk of seagate company. Now I want to add another 160 Gb ( IDE ) hard disk.

Does adding up of IDE to SATA slows down my PC ?

Currently in my IDE port, I use a sony CD-RW?

So can u say what I need to do now.
The main problem is the data in both the hard disks is very important and I can't afford for a data loss.

Please give me any advice u can.

Thank You.

There should not be any problem with slowing-down the computer.

The main thing with IDE drives is setting the jumpers so that one device is "Master" and one is "Slave". The CD-ROM drive is probably currently set to Master. (you can check on the BIOS screen or visually check the drive in the case or remove the drive to check the jumpers). Just set the hard drive to the opposite of the CD_ROM drive.

Good Luck
