Hello,
On my Dell Inspiron 640m with windows xp pro the wifi stopped working when I reinstalled the operating system. I had a virus and the wifi was working but when the program rebooted it didn't work any more.

did you install the wifi hardware driver? Most laptops require you to install hardware drivers that are specific to the make and model. I suggest you visit the Dell support web site.
