Hi,
Dear All,

I asked some time back about a question on how to highlight thevalues etc that i entered in an excel file, and Mr. Trowa has helped me alot in that.So i thank him for his efforts.
But can any one tell or suggest me any other way to check the data that are entered in an excel file?
I wanted my original excel sheet to be linked with another emplty excel sheet, and this excel sheet should contains only the formulas and headings of the main excel sheet. And not the data that is manual entry. So if i make any entry on a given day, say (18 may 2011), then this should be highlighted on both original excel and empty excel files.
So that if i made any mistake in making the entry then it will be depicted on both the files.
I welcome any other suggestions that members out here will give me in this regard, to make my entry done faster and with accuracy.

Thanks,

Regards

Umair Kamran

Hi Umair,

Thanks for the credits, but I guess it wasn't very helpfull or else I wouldn't be reading this post.

How does your sheet look like?

Can you maybe post a view lines of your workbook or use a site like www.speedyshare.com to upload your entire file(s)?

Is it really necessary to have two workbooks? or is that your first step in solving your query and therefor not necessary when another solution is found.

Best regards,
Trowa

The issue that i see with your approach is that, since the other excel only contains formula that are linked to original sheet. So if you make the change in the original cell, the link will make the change flow thru. Think it like this

if i write
A= 7 + B
as soon as i change value of B, the value of A is changed too. From what I am getting from your question is that you want B to change but A to remain static. I think there is a way you can supress the auto update of links but you have not mentioned what version of excel you are using.
If all you want is to have the other workbook contain the last updated value, why not just copy the content to the other workbook when you think it is time to copy.
