Anti-Virus deleted my Application Data
Solved/Closed
Hello,
As my Antivirus, AVG10, ran a scan it found a virus, like usual. Going through my normal routine, I clicked the quarantine and disinfect button, but not before noticing the file was in Application Data. The anitvirus then proceded to delete everything in my folder. I am no longer able to run .exe files, or use any program, save for Explorer, because when it asks for me to search for a program to run my programs, I click "look on explorer for program". I cannot technichally open explore.exe because the system cannot find the program to open it with. Please help me, or tell me what to replace.. OS, motherboard, something. Just help.

DylPhil,
go to: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm
and select the file extensions you wish to recover.
download and double click the registry key to add it into your registry.
this will fix the error with file association.
i then recommend you use https://www.malwarebytes.com/
to check your PC for malware and remove it.

Download and run this
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/fileassoc/xp_exe_fix.zip
There is no antivirus which removes the your application data.
Most of the infections have their files in application data which avg has detected.
I would recommend running malwarebytes before running antivirus scans because of this type EXE issues
